Spiel 08 - con report or whatever
So - you know me, I'm no good at con reports, but I'll do my best.
I didn't hear any numbers so I have to guess from what I saw but I'd say we had even more visitors than the years before - which means something. Tuesday and friday were more crowded than usual and Saturady and Sunday it was near impossible to get something to eat or look at a display without getting knocked over or wait for half an hour. I was sort of happy to have my booth to hide behind :)
Strange enough - though there were lots of visitors, a lot of pople who used to work other booths were suspiciously absent. Maybe I got too used to having people i know greet me when I get into the hall, but I felt a bit neglected ;) well, this was rectified over the days.
Even
sophia13 who doesn't get around to meet anyone lately managed to drop by for a minute. A few friends/clienets aquaintances said hello and I got around to at least excahnge a few words with the nice ladies from http://www.schattenmond.com/ so I'll have some postcards and maybe T-shirts available through them in the future.
kerimaya worked atthe same con in another hall and while we had best intentions to spend some time together and play a few of the games available for tryout, this simply wasn't possible. Overall, I didn't get to see so much of the con yet again and I hardly talked to aynone for more than 10 minutes. Partly becasue it was so crowded and loud and partly becasue I was feeling really bad and was so easily distracted - it wasn't even funny.
aycolen and Tanja were at the booth right in front of ours over the weekent along with another artist I know but I hardly managed to say hello to them - like i said - the weekend was hell in some ways.
Sorry to everyone I neglected. I'll do better next time - promise!
And lots of thanks to
flame_song who came by over the whole weekend and not only forgave my foul mood, stopped me from soaking my pictures in coke multiple times, helped out at the booth, dragged me off to get a new artbook I would have cried over for not getting it if I'd restrained myself from buying that one (Elexir from Melanie Delon to be exact) got me cookies and generally made me survive the con even though she had to get up on 6 am this monday. Thank you so much!
In buisness terms it went ok but not amazingly for sales alone - I'll definitely cut back on the crafting stuff and rather do those only on orders. That cuts down my prep work and the materials I have to buy - important if I really want to do a lot of cons next year - and maybe I'll get taken a bit more serious as an artist instead of booth decoration ;)
I'm a bit sad the picture gems I didd didn't sell as good as I hoped they would. Can't do so much about that, though. I'll do some more for the next con anyway and hope a better display will help with the sales.
On the flip side I managed to talk to a few people over comissions and theartbook I'm planning and through you never know if something will really work out - if at least half of them do I'll have lots to do hehe.
I even had an event of being star-struck - though I'm usually very much not fangirl material when a nice older gentelman who came by and talked to me over pictures and bondage scenes turned out to be an ex-publisher from the Gespenstergeschichten magazine - thats a german dime novel series I gew up with and still ahve some issues lying about. I didn't see some for a while but it seems they'll be back. He only told me his former occupation at the very end of the conversation and now I really hope I didn't make a complete idiot of myself.
LOL. That was really cool. And he was really nice too.
I'm back to doing nothing for today - I think I'm totally entitled to a free day right now and then I'll have a new rpg group starting on wednesday, a halloween party tp prepare on friday and NaNo startingright after that. Way to go!
Now I have some contacts to wote to,
